Master of Science (MSc) Management in Health Care

Programme Characteristics


Studying this specialized MSc Management in Health Care programme at Oxford Brookes will enable students to work more effectively at management level. This is a higher degree introducing the disciplines of senior management within a health and social care context. It is designed to be flexible and to cover topics that will tailor students’ learning to their own professional development needs.

 
This programme commences with a module on personal development and each student is provided with a personal coach for 6 months to assist them in focusing on their personal and professional development goals.

 
Clinical safety is not just about clinical skills; the impact of organizational management on delivering quality health care is fundamental. This programme will help students to manage with confidence. They will be wellequipped to deal with the challenges of the ever changing and complex environment of health and social care, and will be encouraged to use the literature to critique their practice. This programme offers students the opportunity to understand the changes that have taken place in health and social care delivery and the operational environment at local, national and international level. It will challenge students to realize their potential.

     
   

 

Programme Schedule
30 days Self-study / Pre-lecture assigned readings
3 or 6 days Intensive School (1 or 2 modules)
(8:30am - 12:30pm OR 6:00pm - 10:00pm)
75 days Post-lecture assignments / projects
 

The programme is taught using blended learning with three 6-day Intensive Schools and one 3-day Intensive school during that period. The Intensive Schools are made up of lectures, group work, workshops and one-to-one tutorials. Students are well supported between Intensive Schools by e-mail tutorials and are provided with very comprehensive study materials and reading matter. Our Teaching Team aims to deliver a programme of the highest quality and to use innovative and up-to-date methods for teaching and learning. A total of 180 credits are required to gain the MSc Management in Health Care Degree.

1 ) Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
