The overall aim of this Nursing Studies Programme is to enable students in the Nursing sector to gain the knowledge and skills they need to develop and transform themselves, their colleagues and their organizations to respond to an ever changing and challenging working environment
Aims and Objectives:
Utilise coaching and mentoring to develop themselves and others in order to meet a balance between personal and organizational goals. In doing so identify, future routes for personal development and explore how this will be achieved through formal and informal opportunities across academic and working environments
Develop an in depth awareness and understanding of health and social care in a broader global context, in order to be able to deliver effective outcomes. Including within this, a critical exploration of policy creation and delivery
Inform and enhance knowledge and skills relating to key operational responsibilities in the areas of managing people, information and finance and to be able to utilize the interplay between operational and strategic management
Develop knowledge and skills in leadership and the management of change
Develop skills in systematic evaluation and research utilization
Develop the ability to design and conduct a piece of research or to design and conduct a detailed project relating to a relevant clinical area
Develop knowledge and skills relating to the critical application of ethics in the delivery and management of care within the health care sector
30 days Self-study / Pre-lecture assigned readings
3 or 6 days Intensive School (1 or 2 modules)
(8:30am - 12:30pm OR 6:00pm - 10:00pm)
75 days Post-lecture assignments / projects
The programme is taught using blended learning with three 6-day Intensive Schools and one 3-day Intensive school during that period. The Intensive Schools are made up of lectures, group work, workshops and one-to-one tutorials. Students are well supported between Intensive Schools by e-mail tutorials and are provided with very comprehensive study materials and reading matter. Our Teaching Team aims to deliver a programme of the highest quality and to use innovative and up-to-date methods for teaching and learning. A total of 180 credits are required to gain the MSc Nursing Studies Degree.
