Certificate
in Internet Programming
The
Certificate Program in Internet Programming enables
qualified students to develop an understanding of widely
used Web development technologies and skills in front-end
production and back-end programming and development.
The program provides Internet programming skills to
those who have basic programming experience and familiarity
with HTML. Participating programmers have an opportunity
to get started quickly in this high-demand field, with
dynamic HTML, client-side JavaScript programming, server-side
CGI programming with Perl on UNIX, and server-side,
tag-based programming using Active Server Pages on Windows.
This
program is available in a nine-month evening format,
starting in autumn 2002 in downtown Seattle, or through
a distance learning format that may be started anytime.
Whether in the classroom or online, this program represents
a mix of lectures and hands-on lab sessions (classroom
lab format) or comparable Web-based learning modules
and related assignments to practice Web production and
programming (distance learning format). Regardless of
format, the program requires resourcefulness and self-direction,
two qualities needed for a successful Web development
career.
